Cross-country skiing is part of the winter training of all classical skiing athletes. It is the most widespread Czech sport for the public, it can be done both professionally and amateurly, it is very popular due to its financial availability. Entrance to the tracks is free in most places in the Czech Republic, ski resorts o municipalities pay for the maintenance. In Harrachov, running tracks maintenance costs about 0,5 milion CZK per year.
Cross-country skiing has a long tradition in Harrachov. Olympic bronze medalist Václav Korunka also comes from Harrachov. The Czech cross-country national team is moving all winter training to Harrachov from the winter of 2024/25.
The cross-country skiing area is accessible to the public free of charge. There are tens of kilometers of tracks, including a 2.2 km circuit, which is always groomed, covered with artificial snow and homologate for professional sports, so representative races can be held here, the track meets the standards in terms of elevation and cornering profil
Every year in Harrachov, the end of the winter cross-country season takes place with the Skitour race (organizer of famous Jizerská 50 race). In 2025, the Czech Cross-Country Skiing Championship is also heading to Harrachov, on 22-23 February 2025.Nordic combination
