The Nordic combined combines two winter sports - ski jumping and cross-country skiing. His roots are in Norway. It was already part of the Olympic Games at the first Chamonix Games in 1924. Today it is part o the program of the Winter Olympic Games and the World Championships.
However, unlike other sports, Nordic combined is not yet open to women at the level of the Olympic Games (although there are women's competitions).
The most successful athletes from Harrachov are Tomáš Kučera, Ladislav Rygl or the current Jiří Konvalinka - the face of the city of Harrachov. The entire current Czech national team in the Nordic combination also comes from Harrachov.
